County Celebrates Opening of New WIC Office in West County

WHAT

The County's Women, Infants & Children (WIC) nutrition program will be holding a grand-opening celebration at its new 7,500-square-foot West County office in San Pablo, which will replace the aging facility in Richmond.

WIC is a federally funded supplemental nutrition program that helps pregnant and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 have a healthy life style. It provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, checks for healthy foods, and referrals to other resources throughout the county. WIC serves an average of 5,900 participants per month in West County.

WHO:

Speakers at the event will include Supervisor John Gioia, San Pablo Mayor Genoveva Garcia Calloway, Contra Costa Public Health Director Dan Peddycord and Contra Costa WIC Director Raz Moghbel and more.

WHEN:

Tuesday, November 20th from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

WHERE:

501 Gateway Avenue, San Pablo, CA 94806 (site of the new WIC office)

WHY:

To celebrate the opening of the modern new office, which will greatly improve the care experience of WIC participants and enhance the work environment for our staff. The new office is located behind the West County Health Center, which will facilitate coordination of care for WIC clients.
