Contra Costa Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board seeks Applicants for 3-year Terms

Monday, November 21, 2016

WHAT

The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Advisory Board seeks applicants to fill several open seats. The board is comprised of 18 volunteers, appointed by the Board of Supervisors, who assess community needs regarding prevention, treatment and recovery from alcohol and drug abuse.

The AOD board reports findings and recommendations to Contra Costa Health Services, the Board of Supervisors, and community partners.

WHO:

Applicants must be 16 years or older and live in Contra Costa County. We are currently seeking applicants from all five supervisorial districts.

WHEN:

Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled.

WHY:

The AOD board offers its volunteers the opportunity to directly address substance abuse in Contra Costa County by helping local government develop and improve policies regarding drugs and alcohol. The board also selects recipients of the annual "People Who Make a Difference" and "Recovery Champion" awards.

Members must attend a meeting on the fourth Wednesday of each month from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m., and are also expected to serve on one or more committees, which meet every other month. Meeting times and locations vary to encourage participation from various segments of the community. Members usually serve three-year terms.
