Mental Health Providers Sought to Serve Asian American/Pacific Islander Community
Thursday, February 25, 2010
What:
The Mental Health Division of Contra Costa Health Services is seeking applicants for up to $300,000 in new contracts to provide mental health services to the adult Asian American/Pacific Islander community. Award recipients will address the Prevention & Early Intervention (PEI) service category "Building Connections in Underserved Cultural Communities," funded by the state Mental Health Services Act (MHSA).
Who:
Community-based organizations that serve the Asian American/Pacific Islander community in Contra Costa County are encouraged to apply. Complete details and requirements for the Request for Proposal are available at www.cchealth.org
How:
Interested community-based organizations must attend a mandatory bidder's conference from 3 to 4 p.m. Friday, March 12 to learn more about the project and the proposal process. Please RSVP to mhsa@hsd.cccounty.us. The program awards will take effect July 1, 2010 and continue through June 30, 2011.
Why:
Local consumers and stakeholders previously established the Asian American/Pacific Islander community as an underserved cultural community. Proposals are for PEI funds provided by the MHSA, which was passed by voters in 2004. MHSA is intended to transform the public mental health system by promoting non-traditional and innovative wellness/recovery strategies and culturally competent services.
