The Mental Health Division of Contra Costa Health Services will award up to $800,644 for community-based organizations to test innovative mental health approaches and practices. The funds will go toward implementation of locally identified social supports for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersexed, Asexual and Two-Spirit youths and transitional-aged youths. The initial implementation period for these funds begins July 1, 2010 and runs through June 30, 2011. At the county's discretion, contracts may be renewed up to two additional 12-month periods.
When:
Interested agencies must participate in a mandatory bidders' phone conference from 10:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, April 21. Send an e-mail no later than 9 a.m. April 21 to mhsa@hsd.cccounty.us to sign up for the phone conference.
How:
Community-based organizations that serve the target populations are encouraged to apply. Descriptions of target populations and a copy of the request for interest is available at www.cchealth.org/services/mental_health/prop63/innovation.php
Why:
Innovation funding is provided by the California MHSA, which was passed by voters in 2004. MHSA is intended to transform the public mental health system by promoting non-traditional and innovative wellness/recovery strategies and culturally competent services.
