Public Meeting to Address Bed Bug Concerns
Thursday, October 21, 2010
What:
A town hall meeting to discuss the emerging problem of bed bugs in Contra Costa County. Speakers from the Contra Costa County’s Bed Bug Task Force will discuss how to detect and manage the invasive pests. The forum will also discuss tenant rights and landlord responsibilities. The meeting is co-sponsored by the Monument Community Partnership, the Public and Environmental Health Advisory Boards and the Bed Bug Task Force. Child care and Spanish interpretation services will be provided.
When & Where:
6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, October 28 in the multipurpose room at Meadow Homes Elementary School, 1371 Detroit Avenue, Concord.
Why:
Bed bugs are small insects that invade homes and feed on people at night often causing painful, itchy swellings similar to a mosquito bite. Although bed bugs are a nuisance, they do not spread disease. They are becoming more and more common in homes and public places.
