Walk Celebrates National Recovery Month

What:

A 2.5-mile walk Sept. 18 in Martinez will commemorate September as National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month. This year's theme is "Join the Voices of Recovery: Now More Than Ever." A free lunch and $5 T-shirts will be available to the first 400 registered guests. There will also be entertainment for children and brief speeches.

When:

Registration for the walk begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, September 18. The walk starts at Ferry Street and Joe DiMaggio Drive in the Martinez Waterfront Park.

Who:

Everyone is encouraged to participate. The event is sponsored by Support 4 Recovery with help from Contra Costa Health Services and the Contra Costa Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board. The speakers are expected Drug Court Judge Claire Meier and County Supervisor Gayle Uilkema.

Why:
