Placement Openings

  • Three positions for 2nd or 3rd year MSW/MFT trainees
  • 24 hours per week. Wednesday is mandatory throughout placement.
  • One hour of individual and two hours of group supervision provided for every five hours of client contact.
  • Placement begins at start of academic year (August or September) and will end at the conclusion of the academic year (May or June)

Program Description

The Contra Costa JACS program provides crisis, short and long-term mental health services to youth incarcerated at juvenile hall as well as with youth and their families in the community. Trainees will learn assessment/diagnostic and crisis intervention skills, as well as short and long-term treatment planning, and clinical documentation skills in our electronic health records system. The trainees will meet with clients for assessment and treatment at Contra Costa Juvenile Hall and in the community. The trainees will be exposed to multiple trauma-informed theoretical approaches and modalities. Trainees will have the opportunity to participate in multidisciplinary teams with doctors, nurses, licensed clinicians, community support workers, probation department staff, and others in a coordinated and supported manner. There is a $16 per hour stipend.
