Program Description

Central County Child & Adolescent Services is a children’s outpatient mental health clinic based in Concord and serves areas ranging from San Ramon to Martinez. The clinic primarily serves racially, ethnically, linguistically, sexually and gender diverse children and youth (5-18yo) with Medi-Cal insurance and their families. Children have moderate to severe emotional difficulties which impact them in home, school and community settings.

Our multi-disciplinary team includes: psychologists, LCSW, LMFT, psychiatrists, nurse, and substance use counselor. We currently provide services in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese, Dutch and Polish. We offer four Evidenced Based Practices at this time: Family Based Therapy for Eating Disorder, Child Parent Psychotherapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialetical Behavioral Therapy. We provide services primarily in the clinic and at the school or in the home as needed. Bilingual trainees are encouraged to apply. There is a $16/hour stipend.

Interns can expect to provide individual and family therapy, conduct initial clinical assessments, participate in case consultation with staff and collateral contact with community agencies, and complete appropriate record-keeping/progress notes. Optional: Doctoral students may complete approximately 1-3 psychological assessment batteries. There would be 1 additional hour of supervision for psychological testing.

There is a minimum of 4-5 hours of supervision and training-related meetings each week in addition to one on one supervision with your clinical supervisor:

  • Wednesdays: 9am Staff Meeting, 10am Intake Conference, 11am Case Conference
  • Thursdays: 9am Didactic, 10am Special Topics Seminar, 11am Group Supervision
